Savannah's birthday was at the beginning of the month, and the plan was for her to take her best friend, Mandy, to the water park for the day and then have her spend the night. She specifically requested that "the others" go spend the night somewhere else (thanks Nana!). Well, as the date approached, we found out that the water park was NOT open on THE day that we had our plans, so we had to improvise and split the celebrating into two parts. John took them to the water park a couple of weeks ago, and tonight, Mandy is spending the night. Plans changed this week when Savannah and Mandy decided that they wanted Reagan to STAY with us! So, I have enjoyed a day with the two big girls and Reagan. We went to McD's for lunch after dropping Blayne and Whitney off at a b-day party and we went and visited the puppies....Mandy fell IN LOVE with them...her mom is gonna KILL me! We went to Blockbuster and rented movies, they played a long uninterrupted time on the DS, they chose Chili's for supper, asked to give Reagan her bath, and all was well until soap got in here eyes...(oops!), they all three danced and watched a movie together (precious!) At Blockbuster, the girls insisted that Reagan should rent a movie too...she chose Teletubbies. Mandy and Savannah were both Teletubbie fans as toddlers, so they were thrilled with her choice! It has been a great day for Savannah. Here's a peek at some of her day!

Happy Birthday to Me!!!!
Yesterday was my birthday and it was such a good day. I started my day by sleeping in a little bit (what a treat!) John made breakfast...cinnamon rolls and special omelets! (yum!) He had taken the kids shopping and they each bought me something for our upcoming beach vacation. They were so happy and proud of their purchases...cute! Well, since I wasn't the one using the camera, you only get one picture from our morning. I will also include some pictures that Becky took last night. I received several phone calls from my friends and family wishing me happy birthday. I even received a couple of calls that included the singing of the Happy Birthday song, and one was even from Ted Hebert who made up his own second verse! Ha! We had a special treat last night as Becky, John's sister, and her family came and kept our kids while John and I went to a movie and to a Hibachi restaurant for dinner! We enjoyed our time together. John worked hard to make my day special and he did a great job. He was sweet and even called me in the middle of his VERY busy day yesterday just to say hey and to tell me Happy Birthday!

Puppies at 2 Weeks
We went to visit Rudy's puppies today. They are so cute. Their eyes are opening, and they are up and moving a bit. I don't know how we are going to choose a pup. I have my eye on the one who just lays there and does nothing. That is is kind of dog that I like!

They are called "Bellybutts"
Reagan LOVES jellybeans. She calls them "Bellybutts". Here are some pictures of her enjoying her "Bellybutts"! Savannah loves for me to fix her hair in these tiny ponytails. Reagan says "ow!...oh that hurts!" right on cue. Even before I pull her hair tight for the ponytails! She is a mess!

Swimming at the Packwoods
The Packwoods have been out of town all week. They only had to tell us once that we could use the pool, and boy have we enjoyed that!!!!! You will notice that my children are VERY brown. Blayne is no longer wearing a life jacket as he has perfected his swimming this week and is swimming like a fish. Tonight, we met our good friends, the Heberts, over at the Packwoods' home for supper and swimming. It was a fun time. Ted had plans to surprise them and clean their Suburban all up before he goes to pick up the Packwoods at the airport. This is a surprise for them, and Gracie doesn't check my blog (well, I don't think she does) so it will still be a surprise when they get home! What a treat it will be to come home to a clean car inside and out! The pool has had some issues this week, so hopefully it will be in good shape when they get back too! We have been hamster sitting for them this week and things have gone well until tonight when the crazy thing work his way out of the cage. Fortunately, he went right to the kitchen where John was reading mail, and was discovered quickly. Savannah and I had JUST found that he was gone when John rounded the corner with "Peanut" in his hand. Whew! I don't want to fail as a hamster sitter!!!! Oh, and you will notice that someone is missing from most of the swimming pictures. Whitney got sick and threw up not long after we arrived. We made her a palet on the floor and she enjoyed some dish TV while the rest of the kids swam! (poor thing!)
Well, enjoy the show....

Interesting Bird
There is a bird that has laid its eggs next to the drive way at the Packwoods' house. When you approach the eggs, it goes NUTS and flails around like it is injured. I remember when I was little my neighbor, Rob, and I would find these bird nest and we would spend LOTS of time pestering the momma bird by running up toward her nest and making her go into her injured bird routine. My kids have enjoyed checking out this nest each time we pass by on our way to the Packwoods' house. (which has been A LOT this week because they have been out of town and we have had the pool all week!)

Nursing Home Visit
We took the kids to see John's grandparents (two of their great-grandparents) tonight at the nursing home. They are both in the same facility. Mammaw was moved their after her fall and hospital stay. She is there for Re-hab, so hopefully, she will be back home in a couple of weeks. The kids did GREAT! It is hard to go to the nursing home with four kids and a crazy husband. I am telling them "don't run, be quiet, the people are resting" and he is yelling "hey, the last one to the end of the hall is a rotten egg!" sheesh...I don't stand a chance do I? We stopped in to see Mammaw first, but she was asleep, so we headed to the other side of the complex to see Poppa (Whitney wanted to know why the "doctors" didn't put them in the same room since they are friends! That would have made visiting less complicated for sure! Mammaw doesn't have a roommate, so I am sure Whitney was wondering why Poppa couldn't just come there. His roommate is pretty pitiful and makes really loud noises. Reagan kept looking under the curtain at him when he would make his loud gasping noises. I wanted to join her a couple of times....I am so nosey and apparently she is too! Anyway, we did have a good visit. Poppa taught Blayne how to play those peg games (like you play at Cracker Barrel) Poppa knows the sequence to win it, and he quickly taught it to Blayne. It was neat to see, as he had trouble telling us what he had for dinner because of his stroke, he has a hard time finding his words, but he didn't miss a beat rattling off to Blayne what his next move needed to be. Before we left, Blayne "won" the game by himself! Poppa must be a good teacher. Blayne doesn't listen to me like that! Whitney was funny and kept finding things to entertain herself. Savannah took it all in. I think that the nursing home makes her nervous. Reagan was charming, but busy! It is sad to see our sweet folks there. They both are precious and very much still "with it", so it is hard to see them having to be at a place that isn't home! Both of them have great attitudes and seem to make the best of their situation. Please enjoy the following slideshow! You will get a glimpse of our evening. We treated the kids to the Purple Cow for dinner. It is very close to the nursing home. Those yummy shakes made all of that visiting and multiple handwashing (thanks to John) very much worth it!
