Celebrating Father's Day a Day Early

Because Sundays are frantic mornings getting ready for church, we (the kids and I) decided to prepare a Father's Day breakfast for John today. They were so excited. Blayne and I wrapped his presents last night while the girls attended their VBS night at church. It took about THIRTY minutes to wrap a package with him doing all of the cutting and taping. I wish that I had it on video. He was hilarious talking himself through it! And, this morning's breakfast reminded me of meals at my Grandma Ginny Baldwin's house growing up. It took us an hour-and-a-half to prepare the meal! It was so hard to let them do the work because it was painfully slow!!!! Reagan was up at 7 (boo!) so that is when breakfast began. They picked out the menu (some of their Daddy's favorites!): Pigs in a blanket, sausage, scrambled eggs, fresh bananas and strawberries, cinnamon rolls and the real treat for him was Orange Julius made from scratch! There was some arguing, some messes, and LOTS of smiles. They each took turns praying and thanking God for their Daddy. Blayne's prayer was something like "God is good, good is great, thank you for this special day and this special breakfast that we made and that mommy let me buy Daddy and Indiana Jones sticker book in Jesus' name Amen" (no surprise on that gift!) We made some good memories and we honored our Daddy today! Of course, they couldn't wait for him to open his presents, so he got to do that right after breakfast.
