We got to go see/hear Larnell Harris at a local church last night. John won tickets on KCBI last week. The following is an e-mail that he sent to our friends that live in OKC that heard John's name on the radio. I thought that it was worth sharing.
Dan,
Hey brother, great to hear from you! We're doing well, thanks. How about you?
It's amazing to me to see these little gifts from God... I haven't been listening to the radio lately because I just got a free "book on tape" (mp3 on CD really) I've been listening to. It's called "In His Steps", you've probably heard of it. Anyway, I've been listening to it almost exclusively lately, but just happened to have KCBI on, by God's providence of course, and He blessed me with the Larnelle Harris tickets. It's especially cool because at 7:30 I was driving Savannah to school, and the first song that came on was Larnelle's "All Year Long" about worshiping and obeying God every day:
"...may the Christmas tree lights and the sleigh rides at night remind us all to stay in God's presence all year long."
I had an opportunity to talk to Savannah about the message in that song, and then after I dropped her off I thought to myself how neat it would be to take my family to hear Larnelle Harris someday, if he is still even doing concerts. Next thing I know they're announcing that he'll be in concert this Sunday at FBC Colleyville and giving tickets to the 7th caller, so I started dialing... and the rest is history. Don't ever think God has forgotten about you or is not intimately involved in EVERY little detail of your life.
Are you still working at the same place, doing the promo material for the martial arts supply company?
God bless you too brother, and please tell your family hello for us.
Merry Christmas!
John
My mother-in-law was able to meet us there and we all go to enjoy a "Taste of Colleyville" where local restaurants come and set up like vendors and hand out samples of their food. yum!!!!
With me there is always something funny or ironic that happens at places like that. Well, yesterday, John skipped out on church after the first service. I stayed to teach my little class and all 4 kids had classes to attend. After church, it was Blayne's turn to pick our lunch location (we rotate oldest to youngest each week) anyway, he chose Steak-n-Shake (no surprise). So, I headed there with the kids and we enjoyed a yummy lunch oh, and shakes too! There was a family sitting next to us and Reagan kept talking to the man. She would tell him "hi" and really flirted with to him!!! He was so nice and they all thought she was the cutest thing! So, last night we run into them at the tasting!!!! It was funny because the wife said something like "there's the lady with all the kids"! I was so glad that we saw them because after we left the restaurant, I was thinking "I bet that they think I am a single mom, or that I am married to a loser man that doesn't go to church with us..." I was happy for them to meet John and they were very gracious when he spilled a half filled cup of hot chocolate on the floor that splashed on them!!!! We also found out that they live about one mile from us (funny because this church was about 20 minutes away) This was a fun "bumping into to someone"!
