Spring Break Trip to Longview

This week, I packed up the five kids and headed to Longview for 4 days to visit my parents. The kids LOVE to go to Longview and experience a different way of life. My parents live on a unique piece of property with a pond and wooded areas. The kids love to fish and on this trip they got to paddle around in the pond in Grandpa's one man boat! We also took a trip to the GOAT FARM that we went to last year that is owned by one of my childhood friend, Marie's, parents. I have known Marie since the 2nd grade and I will tell you that she is the same today as she was when she was 7 years old! Most people change in life, some for the good, some for the bad, but Marie is still that friendly sweet girl that I met all of those years ago! She has a smile and a laugh that is contagious! It is fun to see us all grown up and let our kids get to know one another. We even took them to the local Dairy Queen that we used to frequent when we were younger. Her boys are precious. They gave my kids a tour of the farm and we also went to their house where the kids enjoyed the wonderful weather outside and Blayne got to play some Wii! Back at my parents' house we got to do a campfire and make yummy smores. Bee was excited about the Basketball tournament this weekend and kept up with her bracket. The girls got to enjoy some late night basketball games from their comfy bed in the living room. We ate out at a couple of our favorite local restaurants and just enjoyed the slower pace of life. I couldn't believe all of the skunks that I saw dead on the road between their house and here and I was surprised to find it SNOWING when I got home...I mean, 73 degrees one day, and 37 the next, yep...that is Texas!!! Great memories were made this week. I hope that my kids will remember these times for a lifetime!

Here is a look at our day with Marie and her Boys

And a fun time at the campfire making smores

***You will notice that Whitney is wearing the same green pants in the pictures...she forgot to pack more pants! I let her pack her own clothes...hmmmm!
