Here is the slideshow, and a post will come soon....
Okay, here I am with the post to go along with the slide show. We had a unique family opportunity to go to a place in McKinney called "Cherith". A very generous Christian lady has an amazing place that she built for her boys who are now adults. It is somewhat like a family life center. There is an indoor heated diving pool, a gameroom with foosball, shuffleboard, ping pong, pool, air hokey...you name it, a gym with a basketball court, volleyball net, tennis and all of the balls needed to entertain a group! It has a very nice kitchen with new appliances, and all of the cookware that one needs! The kids had a wonderful time playing together. John was recovering from Strep Throat, but he was a real trooper. Each family was responsible for a meal and its clean-up. We had breakfast. John made his pancakes and I did a breakfast casserole. It was interesting with 8 adults and 10 children sleeping under one roof with NO BEDROOMS!!!! There was snoring (LOUD SNORING) and babies getting up at night, but it was worth the sacrifice of little sleep to get to have this time together. Nana brought Christmas hats for the kids to decorate. She helped the younger children and the older girls did their own. Keith brought a rocket set and let the kids fire off rockets. The first one went on the roof. You should have been there to hear all of the ideas of how the rocket should be retrieved...from THROWING Will or Blayne up there to pulling a van around and climbing on the roof...fortunately, someone found pool equipment that would reach that far!!! whew...I am glad that we didn't sacrifice one of our children for a toy rocket! Cheryl brought a fun turkey treat to make with all of the kids. They enjoyed making it, and REALLY enjoyed eating it! We hope to get to have a get a way similar to this each year. It will be something very neat to do for the kids as they get older.
