SURPRISE!!!! Baby Shower at John's Work

On Tuesday of this week, John's co-workers threw him a surprise baby shower. He had NO IDEA that it was happening. His manager came to get him for an early "meeting". When he arrived at the conference room, there was a potluck breakfast buffet and around 30 people there to celebrate! He was so surprised and so grateful! He had run late that morning getting out the door, so he had grabbed a granola bar and a juice box...so, eggs and pastries, homemade biscuits with homemade jelly....really hit the spot!!!! I was so happy for him that his co-workers took the time and effort to love on him this way!

John's BNSF Team
John Opening the Gift...a GENEROUS giftcard to Target...woo-hoo...yeah! I went the next day and picked up some odds and ends that we needed to finish preparing for Baby Bryan. And, there is still PLENTY of $$$ left on the giftcard for other future purchases! We are so thankful!

One Year Ago Tomorrow....

John is at the church fair tonight with the kids...I was thinking back to when I went last year with the kids. John had the Flu (first case in Keller for the year!) so I was solo with the kids. People were asking me about my grandmother, and she had just died that afternoon, so I was having trouble keeping my emotions in place. I was tired emotionally and physically. And I was sad....

Tomorrow will mark the one year anniversary of my Memaw going to be with Jesus. As I looked back on my blog and read about my last real visit with her, it made me smile. Not a happy smile, but a smile of thankfulness that God gave me time that night all alone with her, and that she was lucid, that we laughed together and both told each other that we loved one another! One thing that I didn't put in there about that night was that I had to get on the phone to beg her doctor to give her something for the pain and he wasn't very nice, but agreed to a type of sedative, and when we talked to the Hospice nurse, she told us "now sometimes when patients are this close to the end and in pain, when given medication, they will drift off and just die peacefully and never regain consciousness." My thoughts were "oh crap, I just killed off my Memaw"....but she did come to again and was able to have some sweet fellowship with some of the other relatives.

If you took the time to click and read my Memaw post from last year, you will probably want to read THIS post so that you can end this blog reading with a chuckle!

Baby Shower

This afternoon, I was blessed with a sweet Baby Shower for Baby Bryan. One of my friends from the schools that has a daughter Savannah's age (Mandy) and one Whitney's age (Maggie) wanted to give me a shower. I invited some moms from school and a few other friends and we had a good time. Carrie (the hostess) wanted to do it when my girls could come. They did not have school today, so we had the shower and she had people just bring their kids if they wanted to. It was fun. The food was wonderful and I received some really nice gifts for Baby Bryan. We played games and laughed and had a good time.

Magic Time Machine

Tonight we treated the kids to dinner at Magic Time Machine in Dallas. A couple of months ago, a local Christian radio station was offering a deal that if you bought a $50 gift card, you only have to pay $25! John and I talked about it, and decided that would be fun night for our family and we have been waiting for a good time to go. Tonight was the night! They don't take reservations on the weekends, so we got there by 6 and only had a 5 minute wait! Our waiter was hilarious, although, I know nothing about the show he was in! He said a lot of funny things and snuck up on us a few times. We were sitting the carousel table and he turned the horses around so that their rears were facing us....the kids thought that was hilarious!!!

We got to see Cinderella!!!!

We got to be entertained by a broom that moved and talked on its own! Reagan was apprehensive, but then was really excited about it!

We had a terrific magician come tableside and do some tricks. The kids were amazed and I have to admit that I am still wondering how he made the Sharpie Marker go THROUGH the card that Whitney had written her name on! (I have the card and there is no hole in it!) I got a great picture of that pen sticking through that card!!!! How did he do that? Whitney was smiling ear to ear when she was asked to pick a card. He told her that if he messed up the trick, he would use another man's wallet and buy her a treat at the front desk, he actually pulled a wallet out of his jacket, and it had another man's license in it and the wallet went up in flames while we was talking! It was very fun slight of hand illusion just inches away from us. Blayne couldn't quit laughing, Savannah was grinning the whole time and Reagan sat there with her mouth open!

They enjoyed a colored bubbly drink!

It was a fun night of being out together! We are trying to get in our fun family outings before we add a newborn to the brood!

Camo Day "Join the Fight Against Drugs"

Our elementary school is celebrating Drug Awareness month. Today was Camo Day. I had some work to do, so Reagan and I went to school and were able to take some Camo Pictures. We parked next to a mailbox that was decorated for Halloween. Reagan was so funny wanting to touch the spider!

3rd Grade PTA Program

Whitney's grade level did a cute African Folktale Musical called "Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People's Ears" Whitney was an African dancer for the show. One day she had to fill in for the mosquito. One of the teachers told me "I can't believe that Whitney could just get up and do all of the lines and know all of the parts when she hasn't even practiced them"....obviously she doesn't know my thespian child...she probably knew EVERYONE's lines in the show!!!! I am impressed that the music teacher can have 100 kids in a show, they all have some part of the show, they do cute choreography, they play live music, they dance and sing! She always pulls it off. I attended a practice and a couple of shows. Here are some of the pictures. On the PTA meeting night, our friend Ted AKA "Hebert" (reagan) or "Mr. Ted" by the other kids was sitting alone a few rows in front of us. Blayne asked if she could go sit with him. It was sweet, he sat on Ted's lap for the entire show. We have known Ted since our DBU days and he and his sweet family live a couple of street away from us.

Quadruple Dentist Appointment

So, John is the fun dad that takes the kids to the pumpkin patch to have fun! Where do I take them??? THE DENTIST! In an insane moment 6 months ago, I scheduled a quadruple dentist appointment on a Monday morning for our kids! (seriously, I think that I was thinking that it would be best to get it in before the baby came and to just knock it out in one visit) We dropped our carpool boys off at school and headed to our 8 am visit. On the way, I was thinking "why did I do this?" But as usual the kids proved that it is no big deal to take them places...even the dentist office. They were terrific and they all got great reports....no cavities and GREAT brushing! We did talk about our future orthodontic needs...boy is that depressing, but other than that things were great. This was Reagan's first dental visit and they said that they would just play it by ear. She insisted on sitting in the "banana" chair, so they went ahead and did panoramic x-rays. She was awesome until the last one when the lady accidentally pinched her cheek with the x-ray wing bite. She did NOT like that! So, her exam was done with her lying in the dentist's lap with her legs on me. He said that her teeth look great. She was thrilled to get a prize when she was done. I took her picture with the dentist. She was nervous and would not smile, but it was a cute picture anyway. The dentist office is so much more fun these days. Blayne could hardly contain his excitement as we were driving there because of the video games that are there!!! So, we shall return in 6 months for our next quadruple appointment with a baby in tow....what a site to see!
