Well I got to do a FIRST last night, I got to brush my Memaw's teeth. I don't know if you have ever brushed false teeth, but I was starting to think "hey, this would make brushing my kid's teeth a lot easier, I could just pop them out and give them a cleaning!" They were gross and needed brushing. I had fun with it!
On a more serious note, my Memaw is back in the hospital. I have been so busy this week, I haven't pulled the pictures and such to blog about it. I went on...Wednesday....I think and sat with her at the hospital and got home just in time to curl Whintney's hair and do her make-up for dress rehearsal. It was a long sad day. My Memaw's sodium level had dropped dangerously low. She was not eating and she looked soooo incredibly sad. (of course, I took pictures!) She was a bit confused and said some weird things to me. It made me sad, as we have recently experienced with John's grandmother, that she has gone down and her mind is going, and she is not getting better. All I could think was that this was it, she is giving up, losing her mind and she will never be the same, but thankfully, they have been able to treat her and get her electrolytes balanced and her "levels" up so she is a different person. She was smiling and talking non-stop last night! It was a refreshing site. She has become incontinent, so that is discouraging (and gross!) but they hope that she will make a recovery with that! Oh, and she is losing her hair from the chemo. It is coming out in clumps. I was wearing a black shirt last night and when I hugged and kissed her goodbye, her gray hair got all over the front of my shirt (sad)! I followed the nurse out and talked to him for a while. It is hard when there are so many different people sitting with her and so many of us sharing information. My Aunt Judy has been taking care of her for about 6 weeks now. My parents came and gave her one night's relief and my uncle is covering today, so My Aunt got to go home for a three night visit!!! I plan to go this week with the kids and do a short visit to see her. They are wanting to know what is happening with her, etc. So hopefully that will go well and it will be a time that Memaw is feeling good and talkative.
Below is a slideshow from my visit on Wednesday. I didn't take pictures of her last night because there wasn't a good time, and then when I got the camera out to do a photoshoot of the teeth, she sure didn't want me taking a picture of her without her teeth....although, I REALLY wanted too!
