This is our sweet friend Libby. She is scheduled to have a MAJOR heart surgery called the Fontan in October. She is a very complicated medical case, so if you are reading this, please take time to pray for her and her family. The surgery is scheduled for October 3rd. We have spent a lot of time with this sweet angel over the past year. She is a walking and TALKING miracle. If you want to learn about her, go to carepages.com and her name is LibbyP. It is amazing to ready her life story.

Got Milk?

Our Baby Girl was diagnosed with Galactosemia when she was a couple of weeks old. This is a disease that is caught in the newborn screening testing that is done at the hospital. It is a inherited disease and this means that both my husband and I are carriers. None of our other children have the disease. She has been on a restricted diet since she was a tiny thing. She couldn't have anything that has galactose or lactose in it. If you ever get bored, try looking up all of the foods that have either of those in its contents! Pretty much EVERYTHING that we eat around here! So, we have spent a lot of time praying over the last 11 months as we looked forward to her "milk challenge" that would pump her body with galactose and lactose and then she would have a blood panel done to see how her body reacted to the galactose and lactose. Well, she passed the test!!!! woo-hoo. She was diagnosed with a variant form of the disease that is called Duarte Galactosemia...so my girl is a Duarte!

Well...well...let's see
I am starting this blog so that I can make connecting to us a little bit easier. My computer programmer husband started a website for our family, but it is so complicated, he is the ONLY one who can add and post on it, and he just doesn't have or take the time to do it! So, here I am in the easy land of blogville, where you can just get templates and post...much more my style! I will have to add this link to our xerox Christmas letter, so that I can keep all of our friends and family updated!
I have a wonderful husband (the one I mentioned that is a computer programmer with no time to blog)! We have four beautiful children and have been blessed beyond all measure by them! God has been so good to us. They are growing everyday right before my eyes! I try to cherish each day with them and see them as a Gift to me from the Lord, not a burden for me to handle! My children range in age from 9 years to 11 months. So we are into listening to things from High School Musical all the way down to Baby Einstein! There is never a dull moment at our house, and I like it that way. Well, I look forward to keeping up with you in blog world and if you stumble across our blog, drop me a comment and let me know how you are doing...
