Today, I took the kids skating. We had planned to swim A LOT this week, but seeing as it is raining ALL day EVERY day, skating seemed like a better option. I think that most of the moms in our area thought the same...well, actually, it was daycares that thought the same plan for today. Oh well, we had fun. Whitney had planned to invite Meredith for a play date to swim this week, but we called and invited her to go skating with us. It was so funny to have the two of them together. I decided by the end of the afternoon that Meredith and Whitney are the brown and white version of the same child. They think a lot a like and they break out into song, finish each other's sentences, saw off-the-wall comments; it is so weird! They had fun and we enjoyed having Meredith along with us. I was able to have Blayne's skates tightened so he was able to skate all over the place. He even joined in on the Limbo game
We finished off our afternoon with ice-cream at Braums! Ice-cream makes any day perfect, right?

You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile!!!
Well I got to do a FIRST last night, I got to brush my Memaw's teeth. I don't know if you have ever brushed false teeth, but I was starting to think "hey, this would make brushing my kid's teeth a lot easier, I could just pop them out and give them a cleaning!" They were gross and needed brushing. I had fun with it!
On a more serious note, my Memaw is back in the hospital. I have been so busy this week, I haven't pulled the pictures and such to blog about it. I went on...Wednesday....I think and sat with her at the hospital and got home just in time to curl Whintney's hair and do her make-up for dress rehearsal. It was a long sad day. My Memaw's sodium level had dropped dangerously low. She was not eating and she looked soooo incredibly sad. (of course, I took pictures!) She was a bit confused and said some weird things to me. It made me sad, as we have recently experienced with John's grandmother, that she has gone down and her mind is going, and she is not getting better. All I could think was that this was it, she is giving up, losing her mind and she will never be the same, but thankfully, they have been able to treat her and get her electrolytes balanced and her "levels" up so she is a different person. She was smiling and talking non-stop last night! It was a refreshing site. She has become incontinent, so that is discouraging (and gross!) but they hope that she will make a recovery with that! Oh, and she is losing her hair from the chemo. It is coming out in clumps. I was wearing a black shirt last night and when I hugged and kissed her goodbye, her gray hair got all over the front of my shirt (sad)! I followed the nurse out and talked to him for a while. It is hard when there are so many different people sitting with her and so many of us sharing information. My Aunt Judy has been taking care of her for about 6 weeks now. My parents came and gave her one night's relief and my uncle is covering today, so My Aunt got to go home for a three night visit!!! I plan to go this week with the kids and do a short visit to see her. They are wanting to know what is happening with her, etc. So hopefully that will go well and it will be a time that Memaw is feeling good and talkative.
Below is a slideshow from my visit on Wednesday. I didn't take pictures of her last night because there wasn't a good time, and then when I got the camera out to do a photoshoot of the teeth, she sure didn't want me taking a picture of her without her teeth....although, I REALLY wanted too!

Nana's Birthday
My mother-in-law's birthday is on Sunday, so we celebrated tonight after the performance with chocolate cake and ice-cream! Whitney was so wound up after the show. I looked over, and I saw her sitter on the kitchen island...she was crazy hyper! Savannah was very helpful and helped me serve the table. Blayne was excited to talk to Nana about the card that he made for her. Reagan said that she didn't want cake, but when she heard us singing, she decided that she NEEDED to sit with John and "share" his cake!

Friday Night's Performance
Whitney had another performance tonight. John's parents came to see it. They did a great job. Savannah's friend Mandy was there with her new braces and her little sister, Maggie, was sweet to congratulate Whitney. Our neighbor, Madi, came and brought flowers for Whitney

Enjoying the Olympics
I have enjoyed seeing the Olympics this week. The only thing is that you have to stay up so late. Here is my mom enjoying the Olympics at my house tonight.

The First Show...Tonight
Whitney had her first Alice in Wonderland performance tonight. The kids did so good. They looked like they were having fun too! Whitney's facial expressions made me want to laugh. She really hammed it up. These pictures are from dress rehearsal last night and then there are some of Whitney with the Packwood kids. Whitney was thrilled to have my parents and some of her friends there to see her tonight. We were all so proud of her. The two cute girls with umbrellas are our good friends Hannah and Maddie. The 2 of Clubs is Whitney's new friend, Meredith. Tomorrow night, John's parents are coming to see the performance. I will have to duke it out with other families for seats...man there is not much good seating at this church!

Found the Pictures...
John found the pictures of the clean-up that was done at my Memaw's house. They did a lot more after I left, but here is what we did. It is funny how many of you let me know that you were "disappointed" that I lost the pictures. I forget that there are people out there that read this besides my one or two commenting people! The people in the picture are my mom's brother, Uncle "Butch", my Aunt Judy, my cousin, Jeremy and his wife Ginny and one of their children, Dalton. Oh, and the man who brought the hospital bed to set up and ooops...forgot the mattress!
