Steven Curtis Chapman Concert

John and I attended at wonderful Steven Curtis Chapman concert last night. It was a fundraiser for a local pregnancy center. We were so blessed by the concert. It was just amazing to see him on stage just 2 brief months after losing his youngest daughter (age 5) in a tragic accident. He was so raw, humble and real with us. He was by himself without a band. It was just him on stage with his instruments. He shared a lot about the last two months. He talked about how his songs have different meanings to him now. His song "Cinderella", which was inspired by his daughters Maria and Stevey Joy brought the whole place to tears. He told us that on May 21st and May 22nd, he figured that he would never sing that song again....it was precious. At the end, the song says "and she'll be gone"...but at the concert, he ended it with "but the truth is, the dance will continue on..." He began the concert with "Blessed be the Name of the Lord". He told us that he had cried out these words to the Lord the night of the accident. He also talked a lot about adoption and he told Maria's sweet adoption story. He asked us to pray for him as he is going to be on GMA on Monday and in a couple of weeks he is on Larry King Live. He wasn't being boastfull, but he was humbly asking us to pray for him. The interviews will be with his entire family. He asked that we pray for all of them as they are given the opportunity to share the Hope in Christ to the world!
He looks different. He has facial hair and he is wearing glasses. He looks tired. You can tell that he has dealt with a lot in the recent weeks. He is still funny and had many stories to share. I am so thankful that we had he opportunity to go last night. It was a wonderful time. There were also some amazing adoption testimonials given. And, the pastor at the hosting church was our pastor when we first married AND a special family who serve as missionaries in China were there and we had some sweet fellowship with them. And....we sat with some new friends from our church and we got to go to dessert with them afterward and we stayed out until 1 am....we are too old for that.....
